Llamas and Alpacas in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
If you’ve followed my work for a while, it’s not news that I love animals. Unfortunately for me, in the colder months, the cows disappear from the meadows, but 'I’ve found a new obsession to get me through winter - llamas and alpacas! Scrolling through pictures of a stable close to Zugspitze that I pass by (admittedly taking a detour from my work at Eibsee) on my way home a lot, I had this wild idea to message the owner and see if she’d be interested in teaming up and offering sessions at her barn and on her hikes, and she was! I think I read her answer three times to make sure it wasn’t just a dream and wishful thinking.
I didn’t waste any time (being a virgo and efficient German is a painful combination sometimes haha), and to learn all the ins and outs my little one and I spent some time with her 8 llamas and 7 alpacas. To say we learned a ton would be an understatement. I’m sure we’ve all driven by a farm before and wondered about the animal keeper and living conditions, and to see first hand how well Steffi’s 15 animals are treated and how much she cares about their well-being truly was such a great experience.
