Hey, I’m Franzis!

MOUNTAIN LOVER | SUNSET CHASER | COW OBSESSED

My passport says I am an elder millenial, but I was just 21 yesterday. I’m a believer in good deeds and strong coffee. I’m left-handed and yes, I believe we are special people. I’m an extroverted introvert, I am super energized during sessions and then enjoy (read need) my quiet 30 minute car ride afterwards. When I meet clients for sessions I still get nervous, it’s like a blind date every time. I’m a virgo and few things make me happier than a good itinerary and plan. Growing up I was a gymnast and played handball (google it) and basketball.

Some things I love…

…nature, languages, coffee, food, snowboarding, hiking, the ocean, lakes, dogs, and concerts. At my first concert I saw David Bowie and P!nk at my last one.

If I could live anywhere…

I’m pretty happy where I am, but if I had to pick another place, it would be Hossegor in France!

Growing up…

I spent the summers on my grandpa’s sailboat on a lake, manifesting my love for water. When I wasn’t busy swimming, I did gymnastics, played basketball, and spent every fleeting second outside.

I am…

a tomboy and I have the scars to prove it.

LOVE STORIES CAPTURED

HOW IT BEGAN

The magic of photography started eight years ago…

I’ve always loved taking pictures, but never really thought about buying a professional camera. Back then, in the early 2000’s my point-and-shoot camera and Instagram with its few filters were my go-to. After I had my second daughter eight years ago and we had newborn pictures taken, I was in awe of the pictures we received and knew it was time to finally teach myself ‘real photography’.

My husband had an old DSLR from his bachelor time, and I read every beginner photographer blog post and watched every Youtube tutorial I could find.

Nearly two years later, familiar with manual settings and having the hang of kids (mine) running around or from me while I chased them with my camera every chance I got, I knew photography was what I wanted to do, decided to take the leap, and officially registered my business. At the time, some friends helped me brainstorm name ideas and brought up a good point - I should integrate my German heritage. Thus, Frau (German for woman, or Mrs.) Photography was born.

GET TO KNOW ME

It’s more than photography to me

Every time I shoot a session and edit a gallery, my end goal is for my clients to look at their pictures and love themselves!

Always Chasing Sunsets

I always have my camera ready to go, and if I’m walking the dog in the evening and see a good sunset, I grab my gear and watch it from my favourite place in our village. Life is short, and enjoying the little things makes me happy.

Cow Obsessed

If you follow me on Instagram I’m sure you’ve watched a few of my cow stories. A farmer near our house breeds a particular breed, Galloways, and after learning how much I love his cows and getting the okay from him to hang out on his meadows, I’m pretty sure I was dubbed the village cow crazy lady. In the summer time, when all the cows are on the meadows in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, hearing the bells ring when we’re out on a hike is like music to my ears. It’s the one thing that will make me walk faster uphill.

“Frau Photography has exceeded my families expectations twice for family pictures!'“

“We got in touch with Frau Photography while stationed in Germany and booked our first session as maternity pictures to capture our excitement to bring our twin girls into the world! Not only was Franzis the sweetest and most caring woman, but she made me feel comfortable and beautiful whenever I was struggling to feel like myself being pregnant with twins- haha! Our maternity pictures blew me away and I decided to book a family session when the twins were 6 months old and those pictures mean so much to me. Franzis was so patient and calm with my little girls. I never once felt rushed. We had to stop multiple times to calm the babies down and she was right there to do anything she could to help. We got some of the most incredible pictures in Garmisch that my family will cherish forever. I wish Franzis could just travel around and be our personal photographer forever, she’s just that good! I can’t recommend her enough!"

LOVE NOTE FROM ABREY & DORAN

Capturing Your Story Since 2018

I know all too well how weird it can feel to be in front of a camera. My goal is for you to leave a session and feel like you had fun! Whether it’s a couple session and you two think you’re awkward in pictures and not photogenic at all (those always end up being my favorite sessions), or a family session and you’re worried about your kids being too rambunctious - I am there to take over for you, all you have to do is show up! I’ll guide you through your session with humor, empathy, and patience.
