Elopement at Eibsee in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

As a photographer, there are moments I get to capture that feel straight out of a fairytale, and this proposal at Eibsee was no exception. Nestled beneath the towering Zugspitze and surrounded by crystal-clear waters, Eibsee is already one of the most romantic spots you can imagine. Add in a surprise proposal, and you’ve got a day to remember forever!

The day started like any other photo session, or so she thought. I played along, pretending we were just here for some dreamy couple shots. Little did she know, her partner had a very sparkly surprise waiting in his pocket!

After a few sweet photos by the water, I made the face back to back for some ‘dramatic shots’ and gave him a little nod—the signal. As he dropped to one knee and I told her to slowly turn around, her expression went from confusion to pure joy. Spoiler alert: she said yes!

Eibsee is already a photographer’s dream with its breathtaking scenery, but this proposal made it extra special. The love between these two was so genuine, it didn’t matter whether I framed them against the mountains, the water, or even a simple patch of trees—every shot told a story of joy, love, and laughter.

So, to all the lovebirds out there thinking of popping the question, here’s a little advice: find a place that feels magical to you, bring your favorite person, and let the moment unfold.
